Since 1974 the 5th of June has been recognised as World Environment Day, a chance for us all to celebrate our world and emphasise the importance of promoting a healthy and green environment.
The Rotary Clubs of Maidenhead and Maidenhead Bridge invite you all to take part in a brand-new event … A World Environment Day Challenge. Let us make World Environment Day a truly global celebration and a platform for each of us to do something that will have an impact. A chance to get out in the fresh air and get down to a hands-on eco-friendly activity that'll make a difference to our town! Walk any distance, on any route, but whilst out walking take part in a litter pick, cleaning our streets, lanes and public footpaths. The event is free to take part in and we’re not asking for sponsorship, but we would appreciate any donations so we can use this to plant trees locally, furthering our environmental impact. We will invite all walk participants to a community tree planting day once Covid restrictions are lifted. Open to walkers of all ages and abilities, whether you are an individual, group or family this event is your opportunity to participate in World Environment Day, have some fun, and get some fresh air and exercise at the same time! |
So how is this going to work? |
