Easter Fun Day Brings the Community Together in Grenfell Park

What a fantastic day we had at our Easter Family Fun Day on Saturday 19th April! Grenfell Park was buzzing with excitement as around 400 people joined us for a fun-filled afternoon of Easter activities, games, and community spirit.

This event is extra special to us—now in its 13th year, the Easter Family Fun Day is the landmark event for Maidenhead Bridge Rotary Club. In fact, it was the very first event we ever organised, even before we were officially chartered by Rotary International! Over the years, it's grown into a much-loved tradition for local families, and a brilliant way to celebrate community, friendship, and fun—no matter your background.

A big part of the day’s purpose is to showcase Grenfell Park, one of Maidenhead’s beautiful green spaces that’s often underused. It’s the perfect setting for families to come together, get active, and enjoy something a bit different during the school holidays.

This year, we raised an amazing £1,800 for Daisy’s Dream, who support children and families going through bereavement or serious illness. We also ran a special hamper prize draw that brought in another £116 for FoodShare, helping even more local people.

There was loads to enjoy—especially our ever-popular Easter treasure hunt, where kids followed clues around the park to earn a chocolatey treat at the end. But that was just the start! Our line-up also included:
  • Stand Out for Autism
  • Every Bounce Counts brightening faces with fabulous face painting
  • A crafty corner for little artists
  • Tara Kendall Games with hook-a-bag and a cork shooting range
  • Classic rides from Traylens Fun Fair
  • Moo Music offering song and dance for all to join in with
  • Maidenhead Rotaract offering tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cakes
  • And some traditional Rotary fun with our own stalls—hook a duck, coconut shy, marble game and more!

None of this would be possible without our amazing club members, who volunteer their time and energy to make the magic happen. A huge thank you to every single one of them—we couldn’t do it without you!

We’re also so grateful for the generous support of:
  • The Louis Baylis Charitable Trust and The Shanly Foundation, whose grants covered our event costs, keeping it free for all to attend
  • Foundation Park for donating Easter eggs for the treasure hunt
  • And The Handmade Cake Company for the delicious traybakes that kept everyone going, visitors and volunteers!

We’re already looking forward to next year’s event—so stay tuned and hop along with us again in 2026!

Attendees of all ages hopped their way to Grenfell Park on Easter Saturday for the annual Easter Family Fun Day, organised by Maidenhead Bridge Rotary Club. The event, which ran from 11 am to 3 pm, brought together families from across the community for a day filled with laughter, joy, and Easter-themed activities.

Visitors enjoyed a plethora of activities, including an exciting Cryptic Easter Treasure Hunt with rewards of chocolate eggs, face painting, bunny mask making, hook a duck, bar skittles, coconut shy, fairground rides, and a lively inflatable slide. The park buzzed with energy as families participated in these engaging activities, creating lasting memories and fostering community spirit.

Adam Hunter, the event organiser, expressed his delight at the turnout and the positive atmosphere throughout the day. "We were thrilled to see so many families enjoying themselves at Grenfell Park. The Easter Family Fun Day is our signature event, now in its 11th year, and it’s great to bring the community together for a day of outdoor enjoyment and celebration," said Adam.

Building on the success of previous years, this year's event attracted a diverse crowd, with over 700 attendees immersing themselves in the festive atmosphere. An impressive £1400 was raised at the event which will be donated to local charity Daisy’s Dream who support children and young people affected by bereavement.

"We're immensely grateful for the support of the community and the hard work of our members in making this event possible," remarked Lisa Hunter, a representative of the Maidenhead Bridge Rotary Club. "The success of the Easter Family Fun Day demonstrates the strong community spirit present in Maidenhead, and we look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come."

Maidenhead Bridge Rotary Club extends its sincere thanks to Highfield School for Girls for sponsoring the Easter Eggs and the Louis Baylis Charitable Trust for their contribution too.  They would also like to thank Berkshire County Trailers for the loan of a trailer for the day to facilitate getting equipment to site!

Lastly, the club would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to making the Easter Family Fun Day a memorable and joyous occasion. Plans are already underway for next year's event, promising even more egg-citing activities and family-friendly fun.

AN EGGCELLENT EASTER FAMILY FUN DAY

The sun was shining on Grenfell Park this Easter Weekend as Maidenhead Bridge Rotary took over the town centre park to host their annual Easter Family Fun Day.

Now in it’s 11th year, over 800 people enjoyed the free event helping the Rotarians to raise more than £1,800 which will be donated to Daisy’s Dream, a Twyford based charity that support children and families affected by bereavement.  The club also raised money for Foodshare by holding a special hamper raffle, won by Sue Ingram.

Children enjoyed the many activities on offer including bouncing like bunnies on the inflatable slide, having their faces painted, playing bar skittles and trying their luck at the coconut shye.  Of course the main attraction was hunting around the park following clues to answer the Easter-Themed quiz so they could be rewarded with chocolates.re

Families sent time playing and enjoying the sunshine, whilst decorating bunny masks, seeing how many marbles they could get inside a flowerpot under timed conditions and of course enjoying the many treats on offer.

A first this year was a new feature, pat a Pekingese, which say lots of children petting these adorable miniature dogs and learning more about pet welfare.  Although when special guest, Festival Fox, made an appearance, the small dogs weren’t the biggest fans!

For the second year running we were joined by MooMusic who put on several singalong play sessions that had everyone, old and young, joining in.

Event Organiser Adam Hunter, commented “We have had a great day with excellent support from the local community.  We’re thrilled with the number of people who came to enjoy this superb park in the centre of town and join in the fun.  Here’s to doing it all again next year!”

The sun was shining on what has to be one of the hottest Easters we can recall!  The bouncy slide in prime place, stallholders ready to welcome families and the clues to the treasure hunt laid out round Grenfell Park.  The 10th Annual Easter Family Fun Day, organised by Maidenhead Bridge Rotary Club, had arrived after a 2-year enforced break due to lock-downs this April.

This year children enjoyed the many activities on offer including bouncing like bunnies on the inflatable slide, having their faces painted, playing bar skittles and trying their luck at the coconut shye.  Of course the main attraction was hunting around the park following clues to answer the Easter-Themed quiz so they could be rewarded with chocolates.

This is the 10th year the club has run the event and it gets bigger and better each year, and this year was no different, proving to be a huge hit with local families and a great success, with more than 1000 people joining in the fun, the most to ever attend.

This year children enjoyed the many activities on offer including bouncing like bunnies on the inflatable slide, having their faces painted, playing skittles and trying their luck at the coconut shye.  Of course the main attraction was hunting around the park following clues to answer the Easter-Themed quiz so they could be rewarded with chocolates.

For the first time we were joined by Eagle Claw Kung-Fu School who put on a superb demonstration with their Lions, as well as a Kung-Fu masterclass.  This really brought everyone together and shoed the amazing skills of the children at the school.

Easter Bunnies take over town!

14/4/2019

Dozens and dozens of Easter Bunnies came to life in the Nicholson Centre at a special Easter craft session yesterday as Maidenhead Bridge Rotary Club brought fun and laughter into the town centre.

The community-based club organised the free session to give our young Maidonians a chance to let out their creative sides without creating a mess at home and were thrilled to see so many people, young and old, transform their masks into very impressive bunnies!

Adam Hunter, Club Member and Event Organiser, commented “It was loads of fun and great to see the smiles on everyone’s faces as they went crazy with glitter, cotton wool and feathers!  We’re really looking forward to seeing all our newly created bunnies hop down to Grenfell Park on Easter Saturday to join in the free Easter Family Fun Day”.

This is the fifth year the club has organised this free craft session as a pre-cursor to their FREE Easter Family Fun Day, being held in Grenfell Park on Saturday 20th April from 11am to 3pm, which is aimed at young families with children aged 0 – 12 years old.  During the Easter Fun Day the club will be holding an Easter egg hunt, face painting and many other children’s activities.  Throughout the day there will also be fun children’s activities such as singing and dancing.  They’ll be fairground rides, ice cream and plenty of chocolate, so this really is an event not to be missed!
