It seems impossible, but we're now three-quarters through the Rotary year!  It's time for a quick look at our Volunteer-Hour stats. Full data is available to anyone interested, but here are a few highlights for us to celebrate….

  • Over the past 9 months our Members have contributed 1,838 volunteer-hours - That's a 70%  increase over the same 9-month period last year (1,081 volunteer-hours).
  • The minimum-wage equivalent for the 1,838 volunteer-hours is £13,785 - That's a 77%  increase over the same 9-month period last year (£7,780).   Note: Minimum Wage increased from £7.20 to £7.50 on 01-April-2016
  • 11 of our Members have met or exceeded the 3-hours per month (average) target so far in this Rotary-year – and that's likely to rise after the Easter Fun Day event.
  • The biggest single contributor at the end of Q3 was Nisha (650 hours total … that's an average of 72 hours per month!), followed closely by Helen (196 hours).
  • Our members have contributed 505 hours to the Sue Brett (Open Kitchen) initiative, and Foodshare (the Foodbank in Maidenhead) has benefited from 379 volunteer-hours.
  • The majority of our Volunteer-Hours (1,400 hours, or 76% ) are built up supporting
  • Non-Rotary organised  events e.g. helping in the heart of our community.
  • For Seven of the past Eight months, our Volunteer-Hours have exceeded the same month last year!

So all that is left to say is thank you!  Thank you for all that you do to support our local community, thank you for giving up your time to help those in need and thank you for doing it all with a smile on your face!

A lot of people had the impression that volunteer work will not do you any good because you are not getting paid. I refuse to believe this. Being given a chance to be part of any advocacy is something very impressive to see in your work experience. One should take pleasure in serving the community. Being part of something great is enough payment already. Donations are only a bonus. The good feeling brought about by helping should be enough to make you a better person.
